No mouse?

A designer called Andreas Lutz has developed a flash web interface where you don’t need to use your mouse (but you need to have a mic and a webcam). His project is a great experience where you can browse through its contents using voice commands and hand gestures. This is a sign of what the future will bring. If you want to try it click here.

There’s a McDonald’s for everyone

Nowadays with all technology tools some people forget that talent and creativity are still necessary. This McDonald’s commercial made by Leo Burnett London is an example of how a great copy write makes the whole difference. In fact, it overcomes all CG effects, beautiful graphics, celebrities, etc. Just a good (brilliant) idea.

The Colors

This is me playing with The Colors sometime in may 2009. The gig happened in JB Pub in Balneario Camboriu, Brazil. We only played our own songs. The band’s sound is influenced by 60’s/70’s psychedelic rock, 80’s hard rock, 90’s grunge and alternative. The result is a set list with completely different songs from each other.
The playas are:
Aline Couto -- Bass
Fabio Couto -- Guitar and vocals
Gerson Dellatorre -- Drums
Rafael Weiss -- Guitar and vocals

Microsoft | Windows Phone and Windows 7

This weekend Microsoft launched its new campaign for the Windows Phone, their late response to the iPhone. No big deal, although its 1st TV commercial was nice for dummies. They say that with the Windows Phone “your Windows stuff goes where you go” (I didn’t know Twitter was Windows stuff).

The Windows 7 is about to be released. I’m not really excited about it because 1st I’m a mac user, 2nd Snow Leopard was released, 3rd I got Windows Vista at the beginning and it was a nasty, painful, traumatic experience and the reason why I bought a mac.

Although justice has to be made to their effort to change their image. They hired great names like Crispin Porter & Bogusky and Chuck Anderson to give them a little help. I must admit that watching this commercial and seeing Chuck’s work almost made feel sympathy for Microsoft but then I had traumatic flashbacks and thought “screw them”.

I started Os Silva as a college project in 2004. Later on 2006 me and 3 friends (Their names are in the final credits) came up with a new script. We redesigned and created new characters and made this animation on our free time. Hope you enjoy it.

PS. It’s in Portuguese.

The Beatles Rock Band Comercial

The game that makes the young know the Beatles, and the older ones know the games. It will be released this week and I’m still trying to find out if there will be anything about it here in London. It wouldn’t be a bad idea if Paul and Ringo did a free concert together.

UPDATE: Today is Oct 8th, The Beatles Rock Band and all the band’s albyms remastered were released almost a month ago (and I still don’t have them. I think I’ll wait for Santa Claus).

On the previous post I think I missed a very important aspect of the game: its design. Differently from other music role playing games like Guitar Hero and the previous Rock Bands, this one had a much more developed design regarding to its characters, scenarios and movies. The designers went deep across the Beatles’ universe and captured its essential moments from the early Beatlemania days to the psychedelic experimenting ones. I’m going to post some of them here because I think these are very inspiring not only for designers, illustrator, game developers but for anyone. Enjoy.
